I love mythology, and the minotaur's one of the most fascinating beasts to come out of the stories of old Greece. Half man, half monster, his portrayals in the arts lean towards one of these two extremes. The best one is the short story The House of Asterion, by Jorge Luis Borges. If you haven't read it, you're missing out.
This is more of a WIP for now. I think I'll come back to this and use it, but I may as well not. Haven't decided yet. I love the distortion achieved in the features, specially the mouth. 8 x 5 inches, digital.

Young Woman Portrait
Here's a bit more practice with the female form. This time I gave profiles a rest and switched over to frontal views. Also, I'm trying to achieve softer shadings. I'm specially proud how the nose turned out. 8 x 10 inches, digital.
Untitled new comic strip
Social networks are complex.
I've been toying with the idea of making a one panel, weekly comic strip. But I don't have a name yet. Suggest one in the comments, and if I pick your choice, you'll get a full size print of the panel above. Restrictions may apply. 8 x 10 inches, digital.

Xander + Serge: a Collaboration
Collaborations amongst artists can lead to unexpected results, specially if the styles are not that similar. For example, take this piece made with my friend Serge. I sent him the figure in fucsia, without any clue as to what he'd come up with. I was pleasently surprised with the adorable yellow being he added, which turned the piece into an homage to Michaelagelo's La Pietà. I did not see that one coming! In the end, I tweeked the background to add the gradient you see here. Like it? Prints will be available soon! 8 x 10, digital.
Head of Woman
As I've said before, I like drawing heads, but young women are still a challenge, for they have softer, rounder features than men. I still have a long way to go. That said, I'm quite pleased at how this one turned out. 8 x 10 inches, digital.

Head of Thug
I love drawing heads. Mature men are specially easy because you don't have to worry about making them beautiful. And since they're old, you can work a lot of expression lines in, which makes them more lively. This time, I'm tweaking my style a bit, adding a some gradient, which looks awesome on the original piece, even if not son in the web version. Compression is murder. 8 x 10 inches, digital.
Zombie Marré
Alejandro Marré wears many hats: conceptual artist, designer, writer and journalist, among many, many others. Recently, he published Sagrada Carne (Holy Meat), a book about zombie poetry. He also has a weekly show called Librosis on 1850 Radio, in which he and his guests talk about books. Naturally, I decided to combine the two. 12 x 10 inches, Personal project.
The caption reads: "Hello, my name is Zombie Alejandro Marre, and this is LIBRO-ZOMB-IS. Every Monday at 8pm, only at 1850.fm."

Madam Xander
I was chatting with a friend and she mistakenly typed "Madam" instead of "Mister" when referring to me, and it seemed so funny, I made this self-portrait as a housewife. 12 x 16 inches, digital.
